(Romans 8:26-28) “Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for. But the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit. Because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. For we know that all things work together for the good of those who love Him who have been called according to His purpose.”

(I Cor. 14:18) Paul spoke in tongues, so let’s see what he has to say about it, “I thank God I speak in ‘TONGUES’ (languages unknown to me, but directed by the Holy Spirit) more than you all. But in the church I’d rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a ‘Tongue’…21…In the law it is written: With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord…22…Tongues then are for a sign, not for the believers, but for the unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is not for the unbeliever, but for the believer…”

Paul makes it clear that when it comes to the edification of the church, or body of Christ, prophecy is more important than tongues because people understand it in their own language and because of that it is more important than tongues.
People then say, “tongues are not important, tongues are not needed today, or tongues are the least of the gifts. Too many times the church jumps to conclusions that are not true, and discredits the working of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s speaking in tongues.
If speaking in tongues was not important, Paul would have never wasted his time speaking in tongues more than anyone else in the church. No, never. The fact Paul spoke in tongues more than even the most spiritual members, reveals how very important it was that he spoke in tongues.
However, his speaking in tongues maybe hours in a day, was done in private. Tongues were no doubt used in his devotions, his prayers, his spiritual warfare, and his edification.
As pastor of an Assembly of God Church some years ago, I was conducting a deliverance of a lady, and I began to speak in a very commanding warfare tongue. This tongue was understood by this demon, but not by me.
I knew, however, that I was speaking to this demon and was terrifying him. As I spoke to this demon in tongues (a language he knew and I didn’t), the evil spirit, was backing up, (through this lady), shaking her head, and through this lady’s lips, was saying in great fear, “No, No, don’t talk to me that way”. The demon understood that he would have to leave and couldn’t stay any longer.
There’s no way, I would have known what to say to this demon in my language, but the Spirit of God, helped me in my weakness and helped my human spirit directed by the Holy Spirit to frame my words precisely how they should be spoken to get this spirit to leave. PRAISE GOD.

We need to understand the importance of ‘Tongues’ as it relates to different circumstances and different situations. The Bible describes some of them, but even scripture doesn’t hit every and all circumstances. Revelation, reality, and situations that never even came up in Scripture take place, and God reveals these marvelous workings of His Spirit on the Spot and you see the tremendous value of it’s workings.

The value of tongues as to edifying the body of Christ is one thing, and it doesn’t have much value because people don’t understand it, whereas prophecy has great value because the church does understand it, and they can respond to God in a positive way through it.
So prophecy is greater than tongues in that situation, ‘UNLESS, TONGUES IS FOLLOWED BY THE GIFT OF ‘INTERPRETATION OF THAT TONGUE’.

But tongues is very valuable when talking to the Lord, and communing with Him. He doesn’t speak (not pray) to men but to God, and no man understands him, for he speaks ‘MYSTERIES TO GOD’. This is a very deep communication with the Father, and He often answers back and brings great understanding to the spirit of a Believer speaking in a ‘tongue’ and edifies and builds that Believer up in the Spirit.
Don’t you know, that you can’t bless, encourage, or lift another brother or sister in the Lord up if you are discouraged, depressed, or down trodden. So tongues edifies you so you can edify someone else and lift them up and encourage them in the Lord.
I HAVE FOUND THAT, INSTEAD OF TONGUES BEING THE LEAST OF THE GIFTS, I BELIEVE IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT GIFT OF ALL BECAUSE IT IS SO VERSATILE, AND IS USED IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS.
LISTEN CAREFULLY. FROM TONGUES OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, SPRINGS FORTH EVERY OTHER GIFT. ALL THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT SEEM TO BE BIRTHED OUT OF THE WOMB OF TONGUES.

Sometimes you pray in ‘Tongues’ not to men but unto God in mysteries. Sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks directly to a congregation an utterance or message for the people, that blesses, encourages, heals, and instructs
Sometimes tongues directly brings healing, or deliverance. Sometimes the tongue is a warfare prayer, defeating demons, in a language you don’t understand but they do, and they are terrified and by it they are cast out. I HAVE SEEN THIS AND PARTICIPATED IN IT A NUMBER OF TIMES.

(Eph 5:18) “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit”.
Dear Believer, ask God to fill you with His Spirit and let you speak in ‘tongues’, whether it be a heavenly language, or an earthly language not known to you, but known to another which can so increase their faith that the miracle they’re seeking can be received in that moment.
(Jude 1:20) “But you beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (tongues)”.
Speaking in tongues is the initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. It’s not the only evidence, but the first and other Spirit filled wonders and workings that may come in the days, and months to follow.
Supernatural revelation comes through this Baptism of power, and this power terrifies and defeats the devil, and brings answers to prayers that may take months, and years, or without the Spirit may not be answered at all.
Holy Ghost tongues opens up the supernatural realm of God’s Spirit during your daily tasks around the house, and opens doors that have resisted every other form of prayer.
Tongues of the Spirit removes hindering debris, stones, boulders, fallen limbs from your daily pathway, and makes way for blessing, success, protection, witness and bringing glory to God.
God through ‘TONGUES OF THE SPIRIT’ spoken by humble believers have spoken to others who understand a foreign tongue, unknown to the speaker in tongues, answering a needed solution to a problem, or answering a much sought after question, that the speaker in tongues had no knowledge of.
Let God fill you with the Holy Spirit and allow yourself to pray prayers in the Spirit that will get answers to difficult situations, and allow you to speak mysteries unto God, and get breakthroughs for your children and their addictions, bringing them to Jesus Christ. PRAISE THE LORD.
