Too many Christians shy away from the Fear of God, because they think it is negative, and can have no good outcome. THE TRUTH IS, THE PERSON WHO IS GUIDED BY THE THIS PRINCIPLE, ‘THE FEAR OF GOD, IS THE MOST SECURE, SUCCESSFUL, POWERFUL, AND FREE SOUL THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE.

You say, “why should I consider practicing the ‘Fear of God’, doesn’t the Scriptures tell us that “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (disciplined mind)”, …(2 Timothy 1:7).
Yes, it’s true that God hasn’t given any Believer the Spirit of Fear, because the spirit of Fear is a ‘Demonic spirit’, and light and darkness don’t mix. Just as the Devil doesn’t give you peace, Jesus doesn’t give you the demonic spirit of fear.
So, recognize that fears of any kind, other than the ‘Fear of God’ is from the Devil, and not from God.
(One possible exception, might be the fear of, what’s called ‘self-preservation. God has put in us a natural fear that will help preserve our life.
You fear to run out into on-coming traffic directly in front of fast moving cars, that would mean certain death’.
‘THE FEAR OF GOD’ IS A LIFE AND DEATH ISSUE.
Without the ‘Fear of God’, many Christians and even preachers will reach and step over the ‘POINT OF NO RETURN‘.
Listen carefully. The Doctrine of Eternal Security, delivers a death blow to the Biblical teachings of the ‘FEAR OF GOD’. Without the fear of God, ‘Christians’ will push the envelop and will have no problem sinning with impunity thinking they are free from all consequences and punishment).

They will not worry about sinning. They will not try to reign-in their sinful passions, but will give vent to ever increasing sin and depravity.
Of course, they will not want to commit the sin of murder, because then they would be sentenced to prison and they would lose either their freedom, or their lives.
Be honest, if you knew you could get away with your (my) selfish-desires, selfish-motives, and self-serving ways, and there were no consequences, and no punishment, and you could keep it hidden, might you not do it? I’m talking hypothetically. I’m talking about the ever present desire in the selfish human heart, that even manifests in Christians if they are not completely surrendered to God, and do not, and have not applied the cross of Christ to their lives so they can live for God in pure love and obedience to him.

And if you could still be seen as self-respecting in your community, and godly in your church, might you not do it? Now, maybe you wouldn’t. Some perhaps wouldn’t but most would.
Or you and I might not sin the whole range of sins, but perhaps would have a secret sin. We might have just one sin that we love, that we might want to hold on to. It’s not hurting anyone (we think), and it brings (you & me) pleasure, why not.

Dear Reader, just one sin unrepented of, and unforgiven by God will take us to hell, because no one can enter heaven unforgiven’. THERE IS NO SIN IN HEAVEN.
Of course, God will forgive us if we confess our sins and forsake them.
(I John 1:9) “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
Now, too many Christians dilute the meaning of the ‘Fear of God’, by saying, ‘it simply means, we are to ‘Respect God’. Yes, we are to respect God, but the meaning includes far more than ‘simple respect’.

The ‘true Fear of the Lord’ does not terrorize us with no escape, such as the hopeless, terrorizing fear of the Devil.
The ‘Fear of the Lord, does however, produce real, genuine fear of hell, ‘IF WE DON’T REPENT OF OUR SINS, AND TURN TO GOD WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS AND LIVES.
You ask, “Give me chapter and verse, for that please?”
(Matthew 10:28) “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: But rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in ‘HELL’.
That is precisely what the fear of God is, and to have it, will cause us to stop sinning, and will help convince us to give ourselves totally to God.

But we relieve ourselves of that kind of fear because we think that’s only talking about those who have not come to Christ yet.
But that scripture includes anyone saint or sinner who thinks he can sin without eternal consequences.
This deadly new doctrine that’s invading the church that says, ‘that when we get saved, God forgives us of all our sins, past, present, and future, will destroy all who embrace it, because it mocks the teachings of ‘THE FEAR OF GOD’ and the requirement for ‘HOLY LIVING’.
(Hebrews 12:14) “Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord”.
I’ve been in the ministry now for 60 years and I have seen the fruit of those who do not believe in or follow the teaching of the ‘FEAR OF GOD’.

I have seen big name preachers, who become brazen in their actions and speech, and lose all humility, and have no fear whatsoever of losing their salvation.
(Proverbs 16:18) “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall’.
When that happens, they are ready for a dreadful fall. Hell awaits those who don’t fear what they say, what they do, or how they live, after they get saved.

I am not criticizing, but warning us. I am including myself. We all need to examine ourselves and see whether we (still remain) in the faith.
(2 Cor. 13:5) “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves?, that Jesus Christ is in you?– Unless you be ‘REPROBATES‘.
(A reprobate is a person rejected by God and beyond hope of salvation).
Almost no-one has gone that far. I think around 99.5% of all people can turn around and come back to God, if they truly want to. And anyone who wants to please God, live for Him, and do right has not sinned away their day of grace.
‘BUT OPERATING WITHOUT THE FEAR OF GOD IS MOVING IN THAT DIRECTION. WARNING, TURN AROUND QUICKLY.
TO BELIEVE IN AND OPERATE IN THE FEAR OF GOD IS NOT BAD NEWS, BUT GOOD NEWS.
Is it better to believe you can lose your soul by living carelessly, now in this life, but where you can change the direction of your life, or to live in sin and believe all your future sins are forgiven even if you don’t repent of them, BUT BE THOROUGHLY DECEIVED AND GO TO HELL?
HERE’S A POWERFUL VISION A BROTHER IN THE LORD HAD, WHICH KEEPS HIM WALKING THE STRAIT AND NARROW PATH. HE IS ONE OF THE MOST GODLY AND POWERFUL CHRISTIANS I KNOW.
This brother had come back to the Lord some months before he had this vision. He was taken to what seemed to be an ancient judgment hall. He described it like an old Roman Coliseum, without a roof on it.
He was waiting to go into the judgment hall. There ahead of him was a man standing in the center of the hall to be judged.
This brother watching, waiting his turn, noticed that just above the coliseum were many happy faces looking down on this man. He thought, that’s cool.
Then, suddenly a great voice spoke and said to the man, “Enter, you blessed into the joy of the Lord”, and instantly the man was beamed up, and disappeared.

My friend told me he couldn’t wait, and stepped into the coliseum and stood in the center where the other man stood. However, he noticed that instead of the faces above the coliseum looking down, being happy, looked sad, troubled, and angry.
All at once my friend heard this powerful voice, saying, “DEPART”, and instantly he found himself by a fearful looking cliff with smoke billowing out of it.
He looked behind him and up a hill about a quarter of a mile was the judgment hall. He wondered, “How did I get here?”
He turned around again and looked into the pit. He saw a darkness unlike anything he had ever seen before.
He stuck his hand down into the pit. The darkness swallowed up his arm. It was so thick he could feel the darkness and his arm totally disappeared from sight.
He pulled his arm back out, and then, without warning ‘SOMEONE PUSHED HIM OVER THE CLIFF.
He began to free fall, and tumble over and over as he fell deeper and deeper into the darkness. He knew he was falling into hell.

As he fell, he could see the unhappy, sad, faces of those looking down on him from the top of the coliseum. At once he knew they were people he had hurt, offended, and sinned against. Some he recognized and remembered, others he did not recognize.
He knew he would never have another chance for forgiveness, or to make amends. As he fell and tumbled over and over, he was tormented with the thought that he could never get out, or come back again. THE MOST TORMENTING THOUGHT OF ALL, WAS HE WOULD BE IN HELL FOR EVER.
Then as suddenly as he was pushed into that pit, he was back and alive. He still could ask forgiveness, he still could, by the grace of God change his life.

GOD ALLOWED HIM TO EXPERIENCE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO BE LOST AND GO TO HELL.
In fact, when it was difficult to follow what God would tell him to do, he would sometimes tell God, “No, Lord, it’s too difficult I can’t do it, GOD WOULD LITERALLY SHOW HIM THE CLIFF AGAIN, AND HE WOULD SAY, “OK, GOD, I’LL DO IT”.
Dear friend, it is not optional for us to pick and choose what we want to do when God says, ‘do this, or do that, according to His Word.
(John 14:21) “He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me, and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him….24….He that loves Me not, does not keep My commands”.
THE FEAR OF GOD CAUSES MEN TO DEPART FROM EVIL.
(Job 28:28) And to man He said, “Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding”.
(Prov. 9:10) “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy One is understanding”.
(Prov. 14:27) “The Fear of the Lord is a ‘Fountain of Life’, that one may escape (avoid) the ‘SNARES OF DEATH”.

How good is it, that the Fear of the Lord, – IS A FOUNTAIN OF LIFE? If you want life Fear, the Lord.
Every good thing springs forth from the ‘Fear of the Lord’.
WE CAN’T EVEN PROPERLY LOVE GOD WITHOUT THE ‘FEAR OF GOD’.
You say, “Love is the greatest of all. Love is greater than Fear. Yes it’s greater than the ‘demonic spirit of fear’. But the question here is not, which is greater, Love, or the Fear of God, but rather, ‘WHICH COMES FIRST.

Over and over again Scripture says, “The Fear fo the Lord is the ‘BEGINNING OF WISDOM, OF UNDERSTANDING.
It’s the ‘Beginning, the beginning, the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom begins, with the Fear of the Lord’. It’s not the totally of where and how wisdom is going and maturing, and being brought into completion, but it’s the beginning.

LOVE takes over where the “Fear of God’ leads us. Man’s sinful and fallen nature is so mixed with the sinful and selfish nature, that it cannot be purified and put on a solid footing and established without the ‘Fear of God’.
(Jeremiah 17:9) “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?”
The Love of God cannot come forth without Fearing God. There is so much selfishness, self-centeredness and deception in the heart of man, that he will mistake a counterfeit love, for the love of God.

Even when man get’s saved and receives Christ he will think he’s operating in the ‘Love of God’, when at best it is Love with mixture.
The Fear of God is the only thing that can assure us that we will ever put to death the self-life. The fear of God is the only thing that will cause Christians to depart from his sins.

The Fear of God is the only thing that will cause Christians to take seriously the necessary step of ‘APPLYING THE CROSS TO THEIR LIVES.
We can only die the death that Jesus died, when we through the fear of God die to our sins. Only then can the true love of God be established in our hearts and lives.
(Romans 6:6 “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”.

KNOW, THAT THE FEAR OF GOD ALLOWS US TO TRULY LOVE GOD. THE FEAR OF GOD IS LIKE PUTTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION OF YOUR CAR AND TURNING THE KEY. IT IS THE NECESSARY STEP TO STARTING YOUR CAR.
Then you will love God with a pure love and a pure heart. You, then will love your neighbor as yourself. You then will keep His commandments and obey His Word, because you will want to please him. Love wants to follow and obey the one they love. AMEN.
