Janie Duvall was being interviewed by Sid Roth, and told of her first experience of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit and said, “I was just praising Jesus, when suddenly my praise, (still in English) but was with a pure (Scottish accent), and I’m a New Yorker.

Then I began to speak in tongues. I heard Latin, French, Italian, and Spanish. I then took this home to my nice Jewish mother, who knew Latin, French, Italian, and Spanish, and I said, “MOM, LISTEN TO THIS”.
And I began speaking these languages to her, and amazed she said, “I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU’RE SAYING. I CAN INTERPRET THEM.” And I said, “Ok, then, what am I saying?”

She said, “Your saying, The Messiah is coming back soon and that we needed to sing to Him, and sing praises to Him. My mother said, “Don’t stop, I want to hear more”.
Jesus had appeared to my mother many years ago, and she argued with Him and said, “I’m not supposed to be talking with you, I’m Jewish.” But she did accept Him as her Messiah, but was a secret follower of HIm.

Before I give instructions on How to receive the Holy Spirit with speaking in Tongues, I must give you some brief and basic understanding.
The Holy Spirit baptism with speaking in tongues is only for those who have given their hearts and lives to Jesus as Lord and Savior.
In the Early Church the baptism in the Holy Spirit was a package deal and they received the Spirit at the same time they got saved.

We have drifted so far from God in our day and age that we rarely see anyone baptized in the Holy Spirit at the same time they come to Christ and get saved.
Not that they don’t get saved, but often their salvation experience is weak and anemic, and I believe may well be the reason so many grow cold, lose their faith and fall away from Christ and the church.
Another very important element that must take place if we are to receive the promised Holy Spirit is repentance. Without repentance there is no fear of God.
The ‘Fear of God’ is more than just respect for Him, it is that, but much more. The fear of God LITERALLY ‘MAKES US AFRAID TO SIN’.
The Fear of God makes it abundantly clear that God has ultimate power and can send the offender to Hell in a flash.
(Matthew 10:28) “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”.
So called Christians and Preachers become proud, arrogant, selfish and backslide when they reject the ‘Fear of God’, and only believe God is love.
I contend that one cannot even truly love God unless they truly have the ‘Fear of God’, because the fear of God is pure, holy, and causes men to be humble, and meek and to depart from sin.
These are the qualities that genuinely make it possible for mankind to love God and humanity with a true, pure, and holy love.
To live in a state of ‘SINFULNESS WITHOUT REPENTING IS TO MISS HEAVEN AND GO TO HELL.
When we repent of our sins, we lose all that condemnation that was piling up. WE HAVE PEACE IN OUR HEARTS AND A CLEAR CONSCIENCE BEFORE GOD.
We now don’t have to seek Joy, but Joy overtakes us and we are happy and blessed in the Lord.
Watch what happened to Cornelius and his household as recorded in (Acts 10) “There was a certain man in Caesarea by the name of Cornelius….a devout man and one that feared God with all his house…which gave much alms to the people and prayed to God always”…
….”he saw in a vision an angel of God coming in to him and saying, “Cornelius, your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God….and now send men to Joppa and call for Peter, who shall tell you what you should do.

He called two of his household servants and sent them to Joppa.”
Now, God had just given a vision to Peter, and when the vision was finished, the two men were seeking him at the gates. The Holy Spirit then spoke to Peter and said, “TWO MEN SEEK YOU, GO WITH THEM, DOUBTING NOTHING, FOR I HAVE SENT THEM”

Now, Peter goes with them, and meets Cornelius and Cornelius tells about the angel coming to him a (Gentile) who were only considered dogs to the Jews.
God, however had shown Peter that he loved all men and all those that ‘FEARED HIM AND WORKED RIGHTEOUSNESS WERE ACCEPTED BY HIM OF ALL NATIONS”.
And Peter began to preach Jesus to Cornelius and his household and ‘WHILE PETER YET SPOKE THE HOLY SPIRIT FELL ON THEM AND THEY ALL BEGAN TO SPEAK IN TONGUES AND MAGNIFY THE LORD BEFORE THE PEOPLE’.

Then Peter said to them, “Now, I know that God is no respecter of persons, and accepts all who fear God and work righteousness”.
Whoever you are and desire to follow the Lord in obedience and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you will receive the WONDERFUL ‘BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, WITH THE INITIAL PYHSICAL EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN ‘TONGUES’, GLORY TO GOD.
The purpose, and your purpose for receiving the Holy Spirit is so you can be ‘PRODUCTIVE AND FRUITFUL IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD, WINNING SOULS, HEALING THE SICK, DELIVERING PEOPLE.
This is done, of course, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and in the name of Jesus, and Only in His name.

We initiate the act, whether it be healing, deliverance, or baptism in the Holy Spirit, by presenting the need to the people, and then with the permission of and voluntary consent of those seeking this help.
A big hindrance to many receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues is, ‘PEOPLE SAY, I DON’T FEEL ANYTHING’. Dear Friend, the Holy Spirit is not an emotional experience, but rather it is a ‘THRESHOLD EXPERIENCE INTO THE SUPERNATURAL REALM, THE REALM OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

I liked what one preacher said when explaining the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. He said, that ‘Speaking in tongues is not connected to your mind or understanding but is connected to your ‘spirit’ which is connected to the Spirit of God.
But when you’re speaking in English (or native tongue) your tongue is connected to your mind.
TONGUES BY-PASSES YOUR INTELLECT. There’s tremendous power in praying in tongues.
I’ve seen people healed while speaking in tongues when confessing the Word wasn’t working, (we, however should always confess and believe the Word of God, because Scripture tells us the Word is “ALIVE AND POWERFUL”. Why didn’t confessing the Word work, then, when tongues did?”
Perhaps the person was having a hard time believing for a very difficult situation and their faith shut down, which is necessary for the all powerful Word to work. Because praying in the Spirit by-passes the mind and all it’s doubts, tongues becomes the perfect prayer, prayed with perfect faith and confidence in the Spirit, and brings instant relief, and shatteres barriers.

We must always stand on the Word, but sometimes one thing will work quicker than something else, and that is not minimizing the Word. I don’t know why at times it works that way, but it does.

(Rom 10:17) says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God”.
It’s always right to confess and declare the Word of God, we always encourage people to Declare and Decree the Word of God, because it’s alive and powerful and will work to bring to pass what the Word promises.
We can use both the Word and speaking in Holy Ghost tongues, because that’s attacking the problem with a two barreled shot-gun.
If your faith is strong to begin with and you quote the Word, when the devil tries to make you doubt, you stand strong on the Word and healing comes.
Now as you start praying in tongues, you are by-passing your mind with all your doubts, and you are ‘PRAYING WITH PERFECT FAITH, AND PRAYING THE PERFECT PRAYER.
Because the Spirit knows all things (because He is God) and He gives you the exact prayer that needs to be prayed with perfect confidence, you ride right into your answer, or your healing with his strength and perfect confidence. Praying in tongues builds your faith.
(Jude 1:20) “Beloved, building up yourselves on your most ‘holy Faith’, praying in the Holy Ghost”.

Tongues is not the least of the gifts like many tell us, but I’m convinced that it is the most versatile and needed gift, because (for one thing) all other gifts freely flow from this gift.
Through Tongues we communicate and have conversation with God. Through tongues we speak to others with other languages and they understand what God wants them to know and hear, and not our mistaken understanding of what they need to hear.
Tongues is what one preacher called ‘A CODED LANGUAGE THE DEVIL DOESN’T UNDERSTAND’, and I believe that is correct.
However, I believe there is a use for tongues that hasn’t been revealed to the majority of Christians, but is yet to be. There is a warfare tongue that the Holy Spirit has given us as a Weapon against the Devil, his plans and his strategies.
In Deliverance God has given me a Warfare Tongue that the Devil is terrified of. A warfare tongue is a human (language or tongue that the Devil, of course understands.
I don’t understand it, but the demons do. I’ve quoted scripture to them in tongues, and they will ask me ‘WHAT ABOUT ISAIAH SUCH AND SUCH.
Then I’ve spoken in a Warfare tongue to them (harsh and authoritative), and they would back up, shaking their head and saying with fear, “DON’T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT”. I was no doubt rebuking them and casting them out.
Then tongues often will speak to a visitor that knows another language beside English (native tongue), and will either welcome them to the service in Tongues, or call them to Christ in their own language.
God has at times encouraged a person that speaks that language through (tongues of the Spirit) that the person speaking has no understanding of whatsoever. Sometimes a Spirit-filled believer may be answering a deep secret problem that only the listener knows about and is settled at that very moment, and given peace, Oh praise God.
YES, ‘TONGUES’ ARE VERY VERSATIVE, POWERFUL, AND USEFUL IN PROCURING DIFFICULT ANSWERS THAT MAY NOT COME IN ANY OTHER WAY.
NOW, THE EXCITING PART. LET’S GET FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT WITH SPEAKING IN TONGUES.
1. FIRST make sure you have received Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior.
2. Ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues.
3. Start praising Him and worshipping Him, that brings you into the presence of the Lord. Spend some time in praise.
4. Then stop speaking in English and begin to speak what you hear or sense in your ‘spirit’. You will not understand it because it doesn’t come from your understanding or mind, but it comes from your spirit.
5. Keep on speaking. At first you may get only one word or phrase. It may seem foolish, because you can’t understand it. You’re not supposed to understand it, (unless God gives you the interpretation of it, and that’s totally another gift of the Spirit.
You must continue to speak by faith, so don’t let doubt creep in. Don’t listen to the Devil, but trust God. If you ask for the Holy Spirit, God won’t give you a false spirit, but the true Holy Spirit.
Speak in tongues every day and you will, most of the time be conversing with God, praising Him, or praying for difficult things that can be obtained in no other way, than through Holy Ghost tongues (languages). If you’ve followed my instructions, you will have received the Holy Spirit. CONGRATULATIONS.
NOW, PRAISE GOD AS YOU GO ON FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY IN JESUS NAME.
