If so, It’s pulling you ‘Higher into the Heavenly realm”. Your heart, soul and spirit are moving in the direction of your ‘RULING DESIRE’.
If you’re ruling desire is worldly fame, money, recognition, lust of the flesh, or anything that the world has to offer, it has put you on the ‘Broad Road’ that leads to destruction.

That ruling desire is pulling hard on your soul. You cannot change directions or the downward path that you’re on, unless you can, or will change your ruling desire, which has become your master.
Joshua 24:15-16 “Choose you this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served” or the true and living God. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.

HOW ABOUT YOU? As for you and your house, will you serve the Lord. Will you, not only serve the Lord, but will you take your family with you.
Will you be a living example and demonstrate to your children how a Christian is to live his life, how he is to love, how he is to talk, how he is to encourage them, and how he is to care for them. Child of God, ‘START TODAY (I’m preaching to myself as well).
If we can understand that our desires define who we really are. And when we understand that our desires are driving us in the direction of those desires, we understand what is actually real to us.

Before we were ever saved, we loved to sin. We loved the world. We loved to lust after the flesh, and we loved the lust of the eye, and the pride of life.
OUR SELF-CENTERED LIFE WAS TAKING US TO HELL. It was pulling us, it was attracting us. It was, if you please, driving us madly down the Broad Road that leads to hell and destruction.

It was impossible to go any other direction because these things were our ruling desires, and man’s life only moves in the direction of his ruling desires.
But when we become Christians, this scripture becomes a reality in our lives, but what happens when our lives don’t seem to change for the better.

Remember God doesn’t lie. God’s Word is true. (2 Corinthians 5:17) “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature (creation), old things are passed away, behold all things are become new”.
Have you ever wondered, if I’m a new creation, how come I’m still drawn to, and still partaking of some of these things?
I have. But we all should be crucifying the flesh that wants us to sin, and setting our affections on things that are above.

This is a serious problem and must be addressed. We must understand that the Bible is true and something is wrong with our salvation experience, Right? (Rom. 3:4) “Let God be true and every man a liar”.
God cannot lie, and His Word is absolute truth. So, there can be no debate here.
If man is rebellious and speaks hatred toward God, God is always right, and if anyone is going to be wrong it is mankind.
GOD IS THE JUDGE OF ALL THE EARTH, HIS DECISIONS ARE FINAL (AND ABSOLUTELY RIGHT).
If man is deceived and speaks what he believes to be the truth, it’s heresy and wrong. So, again ‘LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR‘.

Now, lets consider 2 Corinthians 5:17 again, but dig deeper and find out what’s wrong with our experience. And what can we do to remedy it.
Remember, God’s Word is always true, and so if our experience doesn’t match the Word, we need to find out why?
THERE COULD BE SEVERAL REASONS.
In hearing the gospel we could fear going to hell and come to Christ to escape hell only, and not really want Him. We may only want a fire-escape and a ticket to heaven.

We may not really repent and be sorry for our sins. So our ruling desires haven’t changed a bit.
We have prayed a sinners prayer but nothing in our lives have really changed or could change under those circumstances.
Another reason is, ‘WE ARE STRUGGLING WITH OUR FAITH’.
What we truly believe, we become. If when we repented and asked God to forgive us, somehow we struggled with God’s acceptance of us.

Our doubts, wouldn’t allow the grace of God to work deeply in our hearts and change us with full assurance of faith.
And last of all, ‘SATAN IS LYING TO YOU’. Who are you going to believe. God or the Devil. God, or the ‘accuser of the brethren’? (John 8:44) Jesus said, “Satan is a liar and the ‘father’ of it”.
Child of God, you may be struggling because of doubt, and doubt brings fear, and fear brings more doubt. Of all of these persons, whose lives are in contradiction to the Word, you a true believer, one who really wants and desires God, and so you are the one who is struggling.

Those who want God the least struggle the least. But because God means everything to you, your struggle may be intense, and will not subside until the problem is resolved.
Somehow and somewhere in the midst of all this doubt, there is a trembling faith that is genuine and it is sustaining you. God is holding you up.
Jesus said to Peter after His resurrection, “PETER, SATAN HAS DESIRED TO SIFT YOU LIKE WHEAT, BUT I HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU THAT YOUR FAITH FAIL NOT” (Luke 22:32).
When your salvation doesn’t mean that much to you, you don’t struggle, but when it means everything to you, you struggle, and your fears keep the doubt in place.
It’s a vicious cycle. You doubt, then you fear, then you doubt a little more, and then your fear also grows more intense.
When you understand how much God loves you, and that His love is so great, and so intense, and so inclusive, it will help you to see that GOD ISN’T LOOKING FOR REASONS TO CAST YOU OFF, BUT REASONS TO NOT LET YOU GO.
(John 3:16) “For God so loved the world (that includes ‘YOU’) that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. (check ‘Led By The Spirit’ on this site Jul 12, 2019)
When you sincerely come to the Lord Jesus Christ you will truly love Him. And those you genuinely love you want to please, and the more you love them the more that love for Jesus and His Son becomes ‘YOUR RULING DESIRE’,
And that ruling desire connects you to God, and that connection begins to change you into the very image of Christ. “IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST HE IS A NEW CREATURE, OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY BEHOLD ALL THINGS BECOME NEW” (2 Cor. 5:17).
