This is a legitimate question, and certainly difficult to wrap our brain around. Not only are bad things happening all around us, but things are getting worse by the day.
You may be having a difficult time right now, and wondering, God if you’re so good, how can you let such horrible things take place.
When God had finished creation, He said, in (Genesis 1:31) ….And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was ‘VERY GOOD’ (exceedingly good).
Yes, everything God made was exceedingly good, but the crown and jewel of His creation was man. He created man in His own ‘IMAGE’ (Genesis 1:26-27). It doesn’t get any better than that.
When God created man He created him with a free will. He created him a free moral agent, and as such, he put within the human will the ability to choose God or reject Him, to choose right or to choose wrong, to choose sin or to choose righteousness.
God loved mankind with a love so strong that we can’t even fathom it. God also knew that the way He had created man/woman that many would reject Him and break His heart. He was testing the heart of all intelligent beings, (which included the angels as well), and ultimately he would have a creation of angels and human beings that would CHOOSE HIM ABOVE EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.
Well, not everyone did choose Him. Long before the creation of man, Lucifer sinned and chose to rebel against His Maker and turned a third of the angels of heaven against God.
This rebellion no doubt took thousands of years, perhaps even millions of years, and little by little he turned multitudes of angels who once loved God into enemies of God, and God haters.
But, finally through their choice to rebel, God cast Satan and those angels he had persuaded to follow him in his rebellion down to earth with probably the most powerful ‘LIGHTNING BOLT EVER SEEN’, (Jesus said in Luke 10:18), “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven”.
I’m sure it ‘SHOCKED AND INFURIATED SATAN’, and he threw a powerful temper tantrum.
Every since then, his hatred of God, caused him to hate every human being and he has worked, now, for thousands of years planning the destruction of the human race.
Why does a ‘GOOD GOD ALLOW BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN?’
Because the human race rejected God as their ruler and king. They said, “WE WILL NOT HAVE HIM TO RULE OVER US.
THEY, FROM THAT TIME ON, DETERMINED THAT THEY WOULD DO THINGS THEIR OWN WAY. AND, WITHOUT GOD’S HELP, THE HUMAN RACE FELL.
WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN WAY, AND WHEN THEY SAID THAT, THEY BECAME SEVERED FROM THE LIFE OF GOD. AND THEY NO LONGER WANTED ANY HELP FROM GOD.

So, a good God is not wanted in the affairs of we humans who have essentially told God, “STAY OUT OF OUR LIVES“.
Oh yes, when things get very severe, and our choices are destroying us and our children and our spouses, and our communities, and our nation, we will blame God, and say, why do you let little children suffer (His great heart breaks), but we would get very angry at God if he broke into our lives and rescued us in His own way, because we don’t want His ways.
We don’t want to accept Jesus as our only Lord and Savior. Even Christians, want Jesus as their Savior, but not their Lord, because Lord means, we are expected to obey Him and do things His way, not ours.
Yes, there are so many heartbreaking things happening all around us, and God is going to bring all things into judgment in His time, and He will cast all human rebels into hell, and save all who humble themselves before Him.
Those who ask forgiveness will receive mercy, and God will place His great arms of love about them (you and me). He wants all to be saved, but He is a holy God, and if He allowed sin into heaven, it would turn heaven into hell.

Please, dear friend, if you have been blaming God, stop it right now. He loves you, and doesn’t want you to end up as one of those rebellious people that He must judge and cast out of His presence forever.
He will do anything for you that He can (without breaking His Word), if you will say, Lord, I want You.
I will follow You, I will live for You, I’ll obey You, I’ll trust You. FRIEND, HIS GREAT HEART OF LOVE CAN’T HELP BUT EMBRACE YOU, AND BLESS YOU AND WRITE YOUR NAME IN HIS FAMILY BOOK, ‘THE LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE.
Those of you who have an ‘ear to hear’, ‘LISTEN CAREFULLY’, there’s a day coming very soon when ‘GOD WILL NO LONGER ALLOW BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE, BECAUSE HIS KINGDOM IS COMING, AND ALL BAD IS BANISHED, AND ALL WHO KNOW JESUS, AND HAVE ACCEPTED HIM AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR WILL REIGN WITH HIM FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN
