“I use this term very carefully when referring it to the Holy Spirit. I am not using it lightly, or to get a laugh, but to help us understand (just a little bit) of how powerful and extensive His working in us really is. But most of us understand the term ‘multi-tasking’ in today’s technological world, right?
Often, when we pray, in ‘TONGUES’, we are cooperating with God in answering our prayers and prayers for others. Praying in tongues is helping God and promoting His kingdom.
Now, let’s establish right now, that God in reality doesn’t need our help or anyone else’s, but the beauty of it all is in His perfect plan, and love for us.
He wants us to have a part. He desires greatly that we help Him. He wants to share in the great joy it gives us of our being used by Him to build His kingdom, to defeat the devil, and to win souls to Christ.
Many see the gift of tongues as ‘the least of the gifts’, but I contend that it may be the greatest of all because it seems to open up doors for all the other gifts to come forth and to be manifested.

Some think it is inferior to speak in tongues because Paul wrote that ‘Prophecy was greater than tongues’, unless there was someone in the church who could ‘INTERPRET’ the tongues.
That is the use of tongues in a organized congregational service, where only that which is understood would edify and build the body of Christ.
If a stranger came in and heard everyone speaking in tongues he would think they were crazy.
(I Cor 14:5) “Paul said, to the Corinthians, “I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, UNLESS he interprets so that the church may be strengthened. That’s the order in which tongues (basically) is to be used in a service.

Now, when gathered together at the altar, people may prayer in their native language or in ‘tongues’, because that is (the order) of that part of the service.
Just a momentary teaching on what’s happening according to the scriptures. It would not be out of order, but in perfect order, when people are invited to the altar to pray).
Now, one of the awesome things the Holy Spirit does through Spirit-filled believers is to address or speak to someone attending the service that speaks a language other than English that the speaker has no knowledge of.
THIS IS VERY POWERFUL AND VERY CONVINCING AND FAITH BUILDING WHEN GOD DECIDES TO DO THIS.
Be encouraged and read, LED BY THE SPIRIT
A Spirit filled believer may be interceding for someone he doesn’t even know in another state or country.
At the same time in the Spirit he may be battling the forces of evil over someone taken captive by the Devil who is so discouraged he’s ready to give up.
But, by you praying in the Spirit they are receiving encouragement and faith to be set free at that very moment, and exactly at the same time through tongues ( which is beyond our understanding), commanding the devil to free one of your children who’s addicted to drugs.
Your Spirit may actually have been transported to where that person is crying out to God for help, and they may hear your prayer for them, born of the Spirit.
That pray is exactly what they needed at the time. It was made to order for their seemingly hopeless condition.
They may actually hear you praying for them, but never see you. GOD IS WORKING THROUGH YOU AND ANSWERING YOUR PRAYER.
When that happens demons understand that language and are terrified. Through tongues they are told something like, “You’re time has expired. You can no longer stay in that person, ‘DEPART NOW, AND NEVER RETURN TO THEM AGAIN, IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME.
I’ve seen that happen numbers of times. Again that’s the miracle of speaking out what the Spirit wants in 3 or more directions all at the same time.
It bring deliverance, encouragement, and wisdom. It brings help to someone to make difficult decisions, and strength and refreshing to you and others as well.
All these things are happening in one tongue yet channeled to three individuals at the same time. (It defies human understanding).
Yet, I have personally seen it and am amazed. Again let me say, that God may speak to a person of another language or who knows another language, but the one speaking in (tongues) doesn’t know the language he’s speaking, and will speak to that person in their own language perfectly.
In a revival we were conducting many years ago my wife gave an utterance (message) in ‘Tongues’, and an unsaved (very sinful) Jewish lady, who spoke both English and Hebrew was attending service that day.
After my wife gave this message in tongues, I gave the ‘interpretation’ to that tongue. After the service, this lady came up to my wife and handed her a note, asking, “DID YOU KNOW YOU WERE SPEAKING IN HEBREW?”
My wife answered, “no”. In fact she had no knowledge of the Hebrew language whatsoever. This sparked something within this lady.
Briefly the message said, “Jesus is the Messiah. He’s coming soon. Be ready, be prepared. Then the pastor asked this lady if I gave the correct interpretation.
I, like my wife, had no knowledge of the Hebrew tongue. She thought a moment, then said, “There was a place where it could have been interpreted two ways, but then said, “He used it in the correct way”.
She told us that she had heard the gospel many times, but it didn’t make a mark on her, but when she heard my wife speak in Hebrew, and me give the interpretation in English (neither of us knowing Hebrew), convinced her that it was real, but not until she tested our knowledge of Hebrew over and over again.
She would speak a Hebrew phrase, and we would say, “Beg your pardon?” Then she’d watch the expression on our faces. When she saw the blank expression she knew we didn’t understand Hebrew, yet in tongues my wife spoke perfect Hebrew.

DID YOU KNOW YOU MINISTER TO ANGELS?
(I Cor. 14:22). Though this lady didn’t get saved in that meeting, about a year later while holding services in another church which she visited, we were able to lead her to the Lord, praise God.
It doesn’t end there. Years later, we accepted a Church in Florida, in which we pastored for 37 years.
After about 25 years of ministry in this church, a lady showed up at one of our services, and said, she was at one of our meetings in upper Michigan, while we were conducting an ‘evangelistic campaign.
This dear lady informed me that this Jewish lady who gave her heart to Jesus in our services, had ‘LIVED FOR JESUS FOR FOUR OR FIVE DECADES, BUT WAS NOW IN A NURSING HOME.
This lady that told me this, returned to our church, about 2 years later, and informed us that this dear lady saved in our meeting 40, 50 years before had just gone on to be with Jesus.
WE REJOICED THAT GOD REACHED HER THROUGH THE VERSATILITY OF HOLY GHOST ‘TONGUES’, when my wife spoke perfect Hebrew to this precious lady, …convincing her that Jesus was the ‘Messiah’. She heard in Hebrew that He was coming soon, and be prepared. GLORY, GLORY TO GOD.
SEEK GOD AND GET FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. DON’T STOP UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE ‘INITIAL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT.
WHAT IS THE INITIAL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF THE FULLNESS OF THE SPIRIT?
IT IS ‘SPEAKING IN TONGUES’ (OTHER LANGUAGES, THE SCRIPTURES, AND THE WONDERFUL WORKS OF GOD, WHICH YOU NEVER LEARNED.
But God working through you, gives you the ability to speak these languages perfectly, praying always in every way the perfect will of God. AMEN
