(2 Cor. 4:4) “In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ shine unto them…”
The picture this scripture paints is very vivid and the language very strong and dire. Who would ever think that Paul in describing Satan would ever ‘DARE’ to call Satan God’, but he did, (but notice ‘god’ with a small ‘g’) and he was inspired by the true and living God to write it down, exactly as he did.
Satan is called the ‘god of this world’ because when the Tempter, caused Adam and Eve to fall through sin, they forfeited their rule and authorty over themselves and the whole creation, and Satan became ‘god’ of this world and set up his rule and authority.

Over the centuries he has infiltrated and taken control of everything on planet earth, except the ‘True Church’.
And even then because of his trickery and deceptions, he has even taken control of certain ones (even some leaders and preachers) and lay-persons and has weakened the church, through it spreading his pernicious lies.

How deadly is this when the church begins to spread the lies of the devil, and they begin to twist the Scriptures to their own destruction, and those they teach and preach to.
The Devil, (god of this world) has control of governments, universities, communities, families, morals, riches, causes poverty. He’s cruel and causes abuses of all kinds, rape, adultery, human trafficking, prostitution, sickness, mental illness, ignorance of God and His Word, hatred of God, hatred of one another, breakup of the family unit, hatred in government of one party over the other, and even warring in the church.
How can we combat Satan, god of this world and all the pride, lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh, and loving the world and the things in it that He causes?

The first step, of course, is receiving Christ as your (Lord) as well as your Savior. Lord, meaning, you will do and obey all that He and his Word tell us to do.
I used to hear my mother sing a very old song with these words, “Trust and Obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. How true that is.

How can we even say we are saved if we don’t obey Jesus. Obeying the Lord and taking heed to His commands is just as important to salvation as it is believing in His name. Of course, God is so merciful, and if we truly from our hearts repent and turn from our sins, he is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I Jn. 1:9).
Next, get into the Word, and get the Word into you. The only way you can discern what’s evil and good is by knowing the eternal Word of God.
(I Jn 2:15-17) “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world, if any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him, for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eye, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world, and the world passes away, and it’s lusts, but he that does the will of the Father abides forever”.

How would you ever know these things, if John the beloved disciple of Jesus had not written this for us to read, know, and follow? Only as we know the Word of God will we know what we’re supposed to do, how we’re supposed to act, and what we’re supposed to believe. And Child of God, we must take very seriously what he tells us in His Word. After we learn what’s in the Word, then we must get the Word into us. Amen?

(Ps. 119:9 & 119.11) “Wherewithal shall a young man (or woman, or anyone for that matter) ‘CLEANSE HIS WAY? BY TAKING HEED TO THY WORD.
The Word of God gives knowledge to the mind, and understanding to the spirit of man. (God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6) “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you).
Finally, but not necessarily in that order, you need to be filled with the Spirit of God.

(Rom 8:14) “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons (and daughters) of God”.
But understand that being led by the Spirit of God is not a level above the level of the Word of God, but rather they are equal and work as one, and so we are led by both the Word and the Spirit. The Word and the Spirit always agree, so we cannot do without the other.

The Word and the Spirit work together in agreement and great power. So, get into the Word and be filled with the Spirit.

As the Word and Spirit agree, let us also work with the Word and Spirit and agree. Then we will fulfill the plan of God for us and promote His kingdom in the sphere of our influence, destroying the works of darkness and weakening the hands of the ‘god of this world’, Satan, shortening his rule over planet earth, and hastening the coming of our Lord, Jesus, Christ. EVEN SO, COME LORD JESUS.
