We run through the list, and say, I need power, I need the Spirit’s fruit, I need the Holy Spirit, I need grace, I need the gifts, I need faith.
I most certainly need love, for love is the greatest of all.
I would have to agree. All of these things are necessary and extremely important, but there’s something even more important than all of these, at first, and to begin with.
WELL, WHAT COULD THAT POSSIBLY BE?
IT IS WITHOUT QUESTION…’THE FEAR OF THE LORD‘.
Over and over again Scripture repeats that the ‘Fear of the Lord’ is the beginning of certain things.
Prov. 1:7 “The Fear of the Lord is the ‘BEGINNING’ of Knowledge…” Prov. 9:10 “The Fear of the Lord is the ‘BEGINNING’ of Wisdom…”
Now, the Fear of the Lord isn’t the completion of all things, but it’s the beginning. The Fear of God is the first principle. All other virtues spring from the fountainhead of the ‘Fear of the Lord’.
You say, “How can that be? Doesn’t the Lord say in His Word, “God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind?” “Yes, of course, but you must see that the spirit of fear is from the devil, and THE ‘FEAR OF THE LORD’ COMES FROM GOD HIMSELF, and from His holiness. (Prov 9:10) “The fear of the Lord is the ‘BEGINNING OF WISDOM’…”

All wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.. “…and the knowledge of the holy (One) is ‘UNDERSTANDING’.
Many Christians don’t have any understanding of the Holy One, because they have no fear of God. (Prov 14:27) “The fear of the LORD (IS) A FOUNTAIN OF LIFE, TO DEPART FROM THE SNARES OF DEATH.”
When believers no longer fear God, they become presumptuous, brazen, and have no fear that sinning without repenting will take them to hell.
Eternal Security is so wrong because there is no fear of God before their eyes, because they don’t believe that anything that they can do could cost them their soul.
THAT IS A BIG MISTAKE. It gives them a false sense of security. They feel safe, when in actually they are in mortal danger.

(Matt. 10:28) “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
